Italian leather, which is known for its durability and softness. It’s easy to maintain, requiring only the occasional cleaning with a damp cloth.

It can be carried by hand or on your shoulder with the removable shoulder strap allowing you to use it as more of a briefcase. If you want to carry it in your hands, the long handle is sturdy enough for heavy loads.

Two external pockets on either side of the bag feature strong magnetic closures with antique brass hardware. A back pocket with two additional compartments give you plenty of storage space for smaller items.

The brown Floto duffel is the one I’m evaluating.

This bag is a visual treat for the price. Because of the high quality leather and impeccable workmanship, this bag feels luxurious in the hand. Looks great with the rest of the gear. The zippers function properly. Good-quality stitching may be seen. Despite the bag’s appearance, it is sold at a considerably lower price than it seems to be.

The Italian leather duffel bag is priced at roughly $200, so you would anticipate some slashing of corners. It’s also lacking in internal framework/caging. The edges of the duffel will fold unless you keep them open until the bag is full. That makes it a little more difficult to fill the bag. Only if you intend to pack and unpack the bag in scenarios where folding sides would be highly cumbersome would this be a dealbreaker. Yet, it will certainly be a deal-breaker for others.

For the price, this bag is surprisingly high-quality. There’s a lot of leather in this bag, and the stitching is excellent. Having a lifetime guarantee and being made in Italy are just two of the reasons to give this bag a try. Although I haven’t had a chance to put this to the test yet, it’s a hollow bag, and its intended use isn’t rocket science.

One of the buckles on my bag, which is attached to a tiny strap, was really badly made. I’ll say it again: The male end of the clip attaches to the male end of the strap, and the female end attaches to a metal d ring on the bag. I’m not sure what happened wrong, but it seems like the male end of the strap that went into the female rings on the strap was drilled incorrectly or something, causing the clip to disengage from the strap and drop the bag to the ground. Just as soon as it was spun in the proper (or wrong) direction, it would disconnect from the strap with a simple twist. At first, I couldn’t believe what was happening. It would have been humiliating had it occurred in a public place rather than in my bedroom with only myself and a bag of towels and sweatshirts to admire my own coolness. When the bag fell off my shoulder and onto the ground, I was mortified even more than usual.

Everything turned out well in the end, and they just gave me a replacement strap at no charge (complete with new clips).

Don’t forget that this bag has a lot of shine to it. Even in black, the bag’s leather seems to have been coated with a dazzling clearcoat that makes it appear to be more luxurious than it really is. This simply makes it appear cheap to me, so I’m going to use some isopropyl alcohol or mineral spirits to remove the shine.

However, this bag’s value is unbeatable unless you also purchase some low-quality Chinese goods made of ratskin or, heaven forbid, pig intestines.
